About Talking is Teaching
Talking is Teaching is a campaign of Too Small to Fail, an initiative of the Clinton Foundation. Learn more about Too Small to Fail here.
“Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” is a public awareness and action campaign that helps parents recognize their power to boost their children’s early brain and vocabulary development through simple, everyday actions – like describing things while walking outside, or singing songs together during bath time. Using books, parent videos, text messaging, social media, and information from expert partners, Talking is Teaching empowers parents and caregivers with fun and easy ways to improve their babies’ learning.

This campaign is super important! Brain development happens at a very high rate in the first three years of life, and slows down after that. Nurturing positive interactions for babies makes a big difference in building a foundation for relationships and the ability for toddlers to learn and communicate ideas. Babies love to watch, listen, and discover their world, especially when sharing experiences with adults they are most familiar with. Here’s to helping our youngest people make the most of their growing brain!

Our Talking is Teaching campaign allows children and their families to have opportunities to engage in interactive learning experiences in our community. The conversations that are prompted through play is the foundation of early childhood development and one of the greatest assets to future educational outcomes for our children. This community-wide campaign is more than a single project, it is a commitment to supporting our children's educational attainment from birth.

While visiting Ascension medical in Union City for my daughters 3 year wellness check, my family received a Talking is Teaching tote bag full of helpful learning toys and resources. I'm excited to help her help her learn new skills through play."

Talking is Teaching transforms everyday moments into powerful opportunities for early literacy, building vocabulary and comprehension while strengthening the parent-child bond. It's about making learning accessible and closing the literacy gap one conversation at a time. Start with Art's Tiny Hands program is so thankful to be apart of this wonderful initiative.
