Volunteering for Day of Caring

United Way’s Henry County Day of Caring is coming October 7

The 2022 Henry County Day of Caring will take place from 9 am to 2 pm on Friday, Oct. 7. This is the 29th year for the community event that matches volunteers with service projects that support local non-profits and other community programs in Henry County.

Henry County’s annual Day of Caring is a collaboration between the Henry County Community Foundation, the HOPE Initiative, Heart of Indiana United Way, and hundreds of local volunteers who help.

“We’re excited about this year’s Day of Caring and hope to see even more people joining in the day, particularly adults,” said Debi Ware, Day of Caring Committee member. “Students from our local Jr. and Sr. High Schools have been the bulk of volunteers for the last two years which is great, but we need more adults to come alongside them to work on projects. And for those willing, to help provide some guidance.”
Those interested in volunteering during the Day of Caring can sign up online at www.heartofindiana.org/henry. Volunteer as an individual, team, service group, or business. United Way will match volunteers with a variety of community projects scheduled for the day.

Local nonprofits and community organizations are invited to submit a volunteer project for consideration. Project applications can be submitted through Heart of Indiana United Way’s online form at www.heartofindiana.org/henry. Project approval will be made according to the number of volunteers available, the project viability and volunteer feedback from previous Day of Caring events. Organizations must also have proof of liability insurance to cover volunteers working at their site.

The deadline for organizations to submit a project site application is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2.

In addition to volunteering, sponsorships are also available. Contact Kim Rogers-Hatfield of Heart of Indiana United Way at kimrh@heartofindiana.org or 765-608-3067 for more information.
