Foster a love for reading and ensuring that every child has access to books over the summer break. Our annual Summer Book Giveaway is back, and we’re thrilled to invite you to be a part of this wonderful initiative.

What is Summer Book Giveaway?

Summer Book Giveaway is an event aimed at providing elementary school students with the opportunity to select eight books of their choice to take home and enjoy over the summer. This year, the event will take place at three local elementary schools in Muncie: Grissom Elementary, Longfellow Elementary, and Southview Elementary.

Why is it important?

Access to books is vital for children’s academic success and overall development. Research shows that students who read regularly over the summer months are better equipped to maintain their reading skills and perform well academically when they return to school in the fall. By empowering students to choose books they’re interested in, we aim to cultivate a lifelong love for reading and support their educational journey.

How can you get involved?

We need your help to make this event a success! We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist students in selecting their books during family nights at each school and the next school day to ensure students who didn’t go to family night still have the ability to choose books. Volunteers are also need to help set up and sort books before the event starts. Your support will make a difference in the lives of countless children in our community.
