OUR PARTNERS
Heart of Indiana United Way funding is about responding to the most pressing needs in our communities. Only by working together can we find solutions that create real change. Together, we are investing $1.4 million in over 50 partners from across our region who share a common vision, and will work with us to achieve the following long-term goals:
- Children are reading at grade level by the end of third grade—Heart of Indiana’s Read & Achieve
- Adults and families achieve financial stability—United Way’s THRIVE Network
- Individuals and families have their basic needs met—Community Resilience
Grants will be awarded for two-year grant cycles, beginning July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2026.
The following organizations partner with Heart of Indiana United Way to further our mission. With our investments in these partners, we drive lasting impact in the communities we serve.
Read & Achieve Partners
Through our Read and Achieve program, we strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed in school and life. By focusing on helping children read at grade level by 3rd grade, we are laying the foundation for their future success.
Why is this important?
• Children who are not reading proficiently by third grade are 4 times more likely to not graduate
from high school
• Children living in poverty AND who are not reading proficiently by third grade are six times more likely not to receive a high school diploma*
Collectively this funding will support a range of programs including early learning childcare programs, after-school programming, tutoring, family coaching and early learning provider education through these great partners.

Partners in Community Resilience
Heart of Indiana United Way works with partners who will aide clients in crisis. Partners help address basic needs and bring stability to lives throughout the community. Community resilience partners demonstrate a desire to link up with other partners in the community to “weave” a more cohesive communitywide system that puts the clients at the center of their work and eliminates unnecessary steps and burdens to receive services.
We are helping partners to address a wide range of critical needs such as securing food, preventing violence, ensuring access to healthcare, assisting with rent, mortgage, and utility payments, offering shelter, and connecting individuals with essential social services and programs. By supporting these community needs, we are collectively building stronger, more resilient communities where every individual can thrive.
