Experience the Novel
Heart of Indiana United Way, in collaboration with Muncie Civic Theatre, Muncie Public Library, Muncie Community Schools and many of Muncie’s out of school learning partners, is bringing this timeless tale of friendship, perseverance, and compassion to life.
Through generous support from Northwest Bank and Altrusa Foundation of Muncie, Heart of Indiana United Way was able to purchase a copy of Charlotte’s Web for every 3rd and 4th grader at MCS’s six elementary schools. Children can enjoy the books now and build their personal library!
Families can listen to the book together by finding audio recordings of the book. Search “Charlotte’s Web audio books” on YouTube to listen for free.
Using their library card account number, families and community members can access the audio version of Charlotte’s Web from their home computer, cell phone, or home devices.
For children in other grades or schools, take a trip to a Muncie Public Library to check out a copy of the novel to enjoy with your family. While you are there, visit the children’s department to learn about the many youth service programs they offer!
Learn with Fern
Muncie students will be immersed in life on the farm with Fern and her animals through daily readings and activities!
The elementary choirs will be performing songs inspired by the novel at Muncie Civic Theatre’s production of Charlotte’s Web.
In art class, MCS elementary students will create Charlotte’s Web inspired art that will be used to promote Muncie Civic Theatre’s production of Charlotte’s Web. Artwork will be displayed at Southside Middle School for community members to enjoy!
Visit Charlotte in the Community
While visiting places families trust to care for their children, Muncie children of all ages will have the opportunity to make text to self connections as they experience meaningful activities intended to enhance the concepts and themes represented on the pages of the novel.
